Accommodation for Swordplay

Swordplay 2017 has moved to a new indoor location that no longer provides combined accommodation. Attendees will need to arrange their own accommodation and transport to the event.

The closest bus stop to the Eagles Sports Complex is the Broadwater Road stop at Mansfield Park which is serviced by the high frequency Route 180 Bus. The bus stop is roughly an eight minute walk to the venue along Mount Gravatt Capalaba Road, which is either a vigorous warm-up or an unwelcome expenditure of energy before your day starts.

You can book taxis from Yellow Cab which are ubiquitous or if you prefer, use ride sharing services like Uber, Sheba and Go Catch which operate in Brisbane.

Getting to and from Brisbane Airport

If you don't want to use a taxi or you want to save a few bucks on the way in, you can catch the Brisbane Air Train which departs every 15 minutes from the Brisbane Domestic Terminal. The Airport line connects with the Brisbane Citytrain network and if you're feeling especially adventurous the Gold Coast line. The closest train station to Garden City is Fruitgrove station on the Beenleigh line. You can catch the Route 150 bus to Garden City if you're staying nearby. Otherwise, use the Translink website to plan your journey and to learn about Tickets and Fares.

Hire cars and the Gateway Motorway

If you're planning on staying closer to the city in places like New Farm or Teneriffe, you'll probably be hiring a car and using the Gateway Motorway to drive to the Eagles Sports Complex. Just be aware that the Gateway has a toll and you may need to pay using Go Via. Be sure to check with your car hire company about their policies and whether you are responsible for paying. We want all your money to be going to useful things like swords and not infringement notices.

If you want to book close to the Swordplay venue, check out listings in Mackenzie, Mansfield, Wishart, Upper Mount Gravatt, Mount Gravatt East. If you're prepared to use public transport or other modes of transport you can also check out listings in MacGregor, Sunnybank, Robertson, Nathan, Holland Park, Greenslopes, Carindale, Salisbury and Tarragindi as well.

Hotels and motels

One of the closest hotels is Travelodge Hotel Garden City, but you will still need transport to and from the Swordplay venue. The hotel is within walking distance to Westfield Garden City which houses a major bus interchange and busway stop. The Route 180 Bus departs from Garden City.
